Boston-IA Board Members

P.J. Gardner is the founder and president of Boston-IA. Through her consulting practice, Gardner Information Design, Inc. (GIDI), she specializes in accessible web design, and consulting and training services for accessible information delivery strategies. P.J. holds a graduate certificate in Accessible Web Design from Northeastern University.

Ken Kipnes has over 30 years of software experience, working at such companies as Honeywell, Digital, and Oracle, and including over 12 years in the banking industry. Currently at Oracle, Ken is an Accessibility Specialist working with Oracle Server products and Oracle documentation. Ken currently serves Boston-IA as Event Coordinator.

Chris Meier works at BMC Software, Inc. in the Interface Design and Usability Group, serving as the Accessibility Program Lead. She received her Ph.D. in Human Factors Psychology in 1992 and has been a Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) since 1997. In 2005, she earned a graduate certificate in Interactive Web Design from Northeastern University.

Charmian Proskauer has over 25 years experience in banking, including 8 years in eCommerce with major responsibilities for the corporate websites for BankBoston, Fleet, and Bank of America. She was responsible for the Web Accessibility initiative at Fleet, co-developed accessibility standards and testing procedures, and monitored on-going compliance with those standards. She is now an independent consultant.

Sandra Spector is a Human Factors professional specializing in usability and research in areas as varied as speech recognition, website usability, and computer modeling, and in domains ranging from finance and call centers to quality assurance testing tools. She has an M.A. in Experimental Psychology, a Certificate in Administration and Management, and has spent many years conducting neuropsychological testing and running a psychological testing laboratory.

Boston-IA Emeritus Board Members

Mike Paciello is founder and president of The Paciello Group (TPG). Mike is an international authority on Web accessibility and assistive technology. He co-founded the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) for the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and is the author of the best selling book, Web Accessibility for People with Disabilities. Mike serves as co-chair of the Telecommunications and Electronic and Information Technology Advisory Committee for the project to update and revise the Section 508 standards and the Telecommunications Act Accessibility Guidelines.

William J. Buchholz is Professor and Chair of the Information Design and Corporate Communication department at Bentley College. Currently teaching and consulting in internet/intranet organization and design, Bill is conducting research in Web accessibility issues, geron-technology, usability heuristics, and many topics related to information architecture and database-driven Web design.
